The 90s post-hardcore band, Quicksand is back with a new record, a new track and a new North American tour. The New York City band, announced today that they are releasing their first album in 22 years. The album, titled Interiors, features the band’s original (and only) lineup; drummer Alan Cage, frontman/guitarrist Walter Schreifels, bassist Sergio Vega and guitarist Tom Capone.
The band shared the first track off the album alongside a collage-style video titled “Illuminant.” The new single is the opening track from Interiors and is a great insight on what the new album will be like. Pounding guitars and heavy riffs are at play here and for fans of the band, it’s like hearing from an old friend after years of being parted.
About making the track, Schreifels had this to say; “it was all just about being ourselves and who we were as well as who we are. We did it for us completely.”

The hardcore band was founded in 1990 in New York and have released 3 studio albums and 9 EPs. According to Schreifels, “We were very influenced by Fugazi and Jane’s Addiction. But we were doing it in a certain context with an energy that was just special and unique and kind of shined through.”
They have toured with stellar bands that include Rage Against the Machine, Anthrax and Helmet to name a few. Quicksand called it quits in the late 1995. Back in 2012, Quicksand reunited on the Jimmy Fallon Show and since then have been playing together sporadically appearing at festivals such as FYF Fest and Pukkelpop. Their first North American tour was in 2013 after 15 years. Fans will be happy to know that the band will be performing in another US tour this fall to help support Interiors alongside their opening act, No Joy. Tickets for those shows are available to purchase now.
Interiors was recorded at Studio 4 Recording in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania with producer/engineer Will Yip (Title Fight, Pianos Become the Teeth). The third album is set to be available to purchase on November 10th via Epitaph.
