The indie-rock duo, Foxygen, will be coming into town this April with Gabriella Cohen. The band was formed by Sam France and Jonathan Rado as high school buds in 2005 in Agoura Hills, California. Since day one, it seems that the duo has always been putting out funky music that fans dig. Though the music is great, Foxygen has struggled in the past with staying together. In 2015, the two announced a “Farewell Tour” to social media claiming it would be their final tour. Here they are two years later going on another tour together and had even released a new album. Hopefully they continue to keep their internal drama together and stay on track of creating music.
Foxygen has released four albums and numerous self-released EP’s. Though they normally have a retro feel to most of their music, they really hit the ‘70s on point with their most recent album Hang. Hang was released on January 20, 2017 and it literally sounds like a record that was made about forty years ago. Overall, the album has a psychedelic classical rock sound with France’s vocals being a mixture of David Bowie and Mick Jagger, plus the 40-piece orchestra helping with the theatrical theme. Hang is a relatively short album consisting of only eight songs, compared to …And Star Power (released in 2014) which consisted of twenty-four songs. Not knowing what the future for the duo will be like, this is a show fans would not want to miss.
