Sex, Drugs, and depression, controversial concepts embraced by The 1975. The band began in Manchester as friends from school who decided to form a band, they started out by performing punk rock covers. Eventually the group developed their own original songs and their first album “The 1975” which led them to tour in order to promote their new music. Their unique sound and high energy shows drew crowds of people that heightened the groups’ notoriety. Their fame became evident when their album “I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It” debuted at number one.
The appeal to their music derives from the 1975 tone brings us back to the past, with prominent influences of the 70’s and 80’s. However, even though their aesthetic alone would be enough to gain some attention. The attraction lies in their raw and real nature, the band doesn’t care about what’s socially acceptable what’s right or wrong. They just care about the music, the music that resonates with fans on a different plane, by the way their album portrays their complete embrace of sex, love, and even being overly emotional.
