On November 20 digitally and February 5 physically, Nashville alternative country institution Lambchop will release Demoed, new EP featuring an all-star lineup of artists singing over demo versions of songs from August’s Punching the Clown. Check out MJ Lenderman singing Lambchop’s “Weakened” now, and preorder on 12” vinyl in the Merge store or your favorite independent record shop. As a whole, Lenderman’s cover is fantastic by how the music sounds louder and bolder, while the vocal performance dazzles the ears with top notch vocals.
While talking about the album, Lambchop’s principal Kurt Wagner said: “We made a list of people to ask and sent them the demos along with the finished Punching the Clown album. We asked them to keep it simple and not over think it, to keep it in the spirit of what a demo might be. Like a sketch for a painting, a demo. Sometimes they added other elements furthering their artistic involvement. It was their choice, their reaction to the premise and the tune”
