Today, musical artist’s Aesop Rock and Blockhead have shared “Coyote Summer,” which is new track featuring Hanni El Khatib from their forthcoming collaborative album, Trouble Mountain ahead of its November 13, release on Rhymesayers Entertainment. The duo have also shared an accompanying music video that was directed by Evan Gütt and on “Coyote Summer,” Aesop flexes his vernacular by expounding on the album’s themes of escape and memory. Also, the video catches a rare glimpses of the famously reclusive MC, while surreptitiously dodging a full face reveal.
Nearly three decades on from forging one of underground hip-hop’s most enduring creative partnerships and five years since their celebrated collaborative full-length Garbology, Aesop and Blockhead work in nearly psychic lockstep, reveling in a giddyness that is seeped in enduring friendship. The album lands in the midst of a legendarily prolific run by Aesop and finds him operating at full capacity, transforming family history, work, memory, and the absurd mechanics of modern life into vivid, deeply human reflections. Trouble Mountain ultimately asks a deceptively simple question: why are we always trying to escape in the first place?
