MJ Lenderman Debuts Six Unreleased Songs at Storm-Delayed Good Moon Festival

MJ Lenderman debuted six unreleased songs at a free show in Durham, North Carolina, as part of Sylvan Esso and Psychic Hotline’s Good Moon festival. Due to severe weather, the performance was moved indoors to Bay 7, where Lenderman played a free show.

This time, Lenderman was not joined by his backing band, the Wind. Instead, he was joined onstage by Tanner York, Brad Cook and Colin Croom.

Lenderman performed “Apples,” the only song identified in the clips documenting the six unreleased songs. The short preview clip on Instagram stays consistent with Lenderman’s indie rock style and introspective lyrics, featuring dreamy guitar tones and a consistent, sparse quarter-note groove from the drummer.

According to Stereogum, this was Lenderman’s first concert in five months. In May, Lenderman dropped off Zach Bryan’s tour to take a break from performing. He returned to the stage in July with Karly Hartzman and Brad Cook at Tracey Nelson’s pop-up show before performing at Good Moon.
