Mike D Shares Enthralling New Music Video “Secrets Pts. I & II”

Mike D has released music video for his songs “Secrets Pts. I & II.” This song appeared on Mike D’s debut solo studio album Thank You, which was released on August 28 via Capitol Records. The video was directed by longtime Beastie Boys collaborator and friend Ari Marcopoulos and features live footage of Mike D performing both Secrets Pt. I and Secrets Pt. II at his recent sold out show at New York’s Knockdown Center, with the entire video being filmed upside down. When discussing his relationship with Marcopoulos, which stretches back to Marcopoulos’ days photographing Beastie Boys circa Check Your Head and Ill Communication, Mike D said, “[he] became part of our creative family. He was just embedded in our whole world… Personally, I love how he is committed to not only making the work, but releasing it. Sometimes tirelessly self-publishing his art. It’s inspiring to me. It’s all we can do as people that make stuff: show up, keep trying things and putting it out into the world.” When discussing the song on his Substack, Mike D describes how he first met Marcopoulos in the downtown New York City club world in the ‘80s, with the photographer and film artist “always [having] a camera with him at the right moment.”

Mike D’s worldwide Thank You tour resumes next Friday, October 16th at Chicago’s Riviera Theater in support of his debut solo studio album Thank You. The tour will continue across the Northeast before heading back to the UK and Europe and wrapping up in Brussels, Belgium.
