Serj Tankian has once again joined forces with fellow rock legend and frequent collaborator Tom Morello, joining him onstage at Morello’s own Power To The People festival today, Saturday . As Consequence reports, the System of Down frontman is one of many artists who joined Morello’s festival celebrating peace, justice, solidary, music and community action. Tankian and Morello joined together for an act that included a live debut of “Adjourn It,” a track by the two and Morello’s son Roman that released earlier this year in May.

Tankian was welcomed onstage by Morello after performances by plenty of other guests, opening their joint act with “Adjourn It.” The performance marks the first time the two have been on stage since the song’s debut and is the first live performance of the track. After the track, Morello spoke to audience to rally them, declaring them all “Anti-fascist crimefighters” and rallying them into an “earthquake.” After this began the next track, a cover of Audioslave’s “Like A Stone” dedicated to the late Audioslave lyricist and friend of Morello, Chris Cornell. “If he was with us,” Morello stated, “he’d be with us, so join us in singing this prayer.” Tankian took over for the vocals on the track as he had done previously alongside Morello during a 2017 performance by Prophets of Rage.

The collaboration marks the latest in a long history between the two artists and activists, and came as part of a stacked night of performances featuring other big names such as Scott Ian, Bruce Springsteen, Foo Fighters, Public Enemy, Jack Black and Killer Mike.

Steven Taylor: Hello, I'm Steven! I'm a graduate of Seton Hall University. I majored in journalism, with a minor in Public Relations. I've always had a passion for the arts and creative fields. Writing especially is an area I've always found myself gravitating towards, between assignments in class, working for the school newspaper or just writing in my spare time. I love providing and hearing new perspectives. In addition to my studies and work in writing, I work part-time at after-school and summer programs for my local elementary school. I've been a part of these programs since I was in high school, and I've even been assigned to work one-to-one with children with special needs. I like to think that if I'm able to communicate well with children in the 2nd grade, then I can communicate well with most adults too!
