Rock icon and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl joined AC/DC on stage Friday night for a performance of the iconic “Highway to Hell” at New Jersey’s Metlife Stadium. As Blabbermouth reports, this crossover of two legendary acts came after Foo Fighters were added as a support act after AC/DC was forced to postpone the performance at the East Rutherford venue, marking the second time the band has stepped up to aid their fellow icons of rock. Video of the performances can be found on YouTube.
“A very good friend of ours asked us tonight if he could come and join us up on stage for ‘Highway To Hell’,” says AC/DC singer Brian Johnson to the crowd before the performance. “And we said, ‘Yes, Dave, you can.'” Johnson greets him and welcomes him on stage, asking the crowd “Their music’s brilliant, isn’t it?” before the the track kicks off. The surprise appearance came as a result of a nor’easter storm hitting the area on the original concert date of Sunday, September 25th.
Foo Fighters were added as support for the newly scheduled October 2nd date, marking the second joint performance by the bands after Foo Fighters previously opened for a September 8th concert in St. Louis. Foo Fighters filled in for the initial St. Louis date opener, The Pretty Reckless, who were unable to play as lead singer Taylor Momsen was in Seattle to join members of Soundgarden for a halftime show at the Seattle Seahawks’ home opening game.
