Rosé of Blackpink is back with brand new solo song! The song is named “New Trick” and features a pop-rock sound. “New Trick” comes with a music video, filmed completely with an iPhone 18. The song and music video is a part of a collaboration with Apple as part of their “Shot on iPhone” campaign. The video was directed by Dave Meyers, known for working with Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, and Ariana Grande.
Thematically, Rosé sings about heartbreak with lyrics like, “Maybe I’m emotional, I lay my dreams out on the table, love is unconditional, it disappears just like a rainbow.” The song is punchy, upbeat, and a little edgy, all wrapped together in a fun package. As Rosé says in an interview with Vogue, “New Trick” could be “possibly the cutest thing [she and Amy Allen] have ever made together”. Rosé elaborates on the song by saying, “I’ve been working on new music for quite some time now, and I’m still in the process of finding the perfect fine line between the world I want to create, how much of that expresses who I am today, and who I, personally and as a musician, am evolving into. I’m excited to see where this journey continues to take me, what sort of sound resonates [with] me, and to introduce a new era of my music next year.”
