John Legend Shares Cinematic New Music Video For “Daylight”

John Legend releases a new music video for his single “Daylight” on September 11 for his upcoming album Muse, set to release on October 23.

The “Daylight” music video was directed by Grammy-nominated director Paul Hunter. The music video is set in a rehearsal space with dim lights and focuses on John Legend performing the song via piano and on microphone, accompanied by expressive choreographed dance moves. The video centers on a contrast between sunset orange lights and dark room aesthetics. A high-production video to show behind the scenes of a rehearsal. The start of the video shows the dancer preparing for their rehearsal and at the end of the video shows the dancers putting away the mic stand and their ballet barres.

According to AntiMusic, the song was produced and co-written by Pharrell Williams, who is a Grammy Award-winning, Academy Award-nominated musician. This is the first project where Legend and Williams are working together. Legend expressed that the album is going to present a vision of Williams and of Legend and a different sound for both of them.

Muse will represent a true form of collaboration where Legend will perform songs that are fully written by Williams and vice versa. The musicians decided to trust each other and let the art guide the process instead of trying to win an argument or let their egos take over.
