Between punchy synths reminiscent of both the ‘80s and early 2000s (with one line making a reference to MTV) and an intro filled with confident spoken-word lyrics, this song marks a new era for Miley, who also seems to have dropped her last name ahead of the release of her new album. The catchy dance-pop song is already being described by fans as reminiscent of songs by artists like Britney Spears and Madonna. Miley took to Instagram to describe the single and reveal the cover photo for the upcoming album, stating, “Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on. It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong. Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. Miley’s highly anticipated tenth album Bass Persuades will be released on September 18 via Atlantic Records. The album will have ten tracks and feature artists like Model/Actriz and Andrew Wyatt of Miike Snow. Miley has also announced a two-night stand at the legendary Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 16 and October 18.
