Industrial metal group Fear Factory have released a new video and single titled “Roboticist.” The new track, which previously debuted on Sirius XM Liquid Metal, marks the first recording of the current band lineup featuring vocalist Milo Silvestro, drummer Pete Webber and bassist Tony Campos. The video can be found on the band’s channel.
The video opens with the definition of the song’s title – “The Architect of the Artificial; designs machines to outlast the flesh and transcend human limitation” – already speaking to the song’s themes of artificial intelligence rising over humanity and their loss of control presented in a dystopic lens. “The future isn’t coming,” guitarist Dino Cazares stated. “It’s already here, ‘Roboticist’ is the next evolution of Fear Factory. Man, Machine and the war for what comes next. I can’t wait for everyone to hear the beginning of a new era of Fear Factory.” The video proper opens with scientists placing a device on the head of a robotized Silvestro, who awakens only for the track to immediately open into an explosion with his vocals kicking in.
The lyrics feature the mechanized Silvestro speaking about transcending pain, mortality and humanity as a whole. As the release states, “Death is no longer the end, it is the next evolution. The machine no longer needs humanity; it inherits the future.” The band also tells fans that “critical intel” on Fear Factory’s upcoming album is imminent, meaning fans shouldn’t have to wait much longer to delve deeper into this new era of the band.
