Remi Wolf Returns With New Single & Video “Twiggy”

Remi Wolf has returned with her new single “Twiggy,” alongside a strange and playful music video. The single marks Wolf’s first new music in two years following the release of her 2024 album Big Ideas.

Wolf first performed “Twiggy” during a surprise appearance at Hayley Williams’ Newport Folk Festival set last weekend. The studio version now arrives with a video that matches the song’s unusual sense of humor. In the visual, Wolf and a group of models spend time in the woods surrounded by pickup trucks and mud. The group takes part in mud wrestling while Wolf performs, giving the video a chaotic and slightly eerie atmosphere.

The track begins with gentle finger-picked guitar as Wolf sings about a person she is drawn to despite their emotional distance. Her lyrics are playful and specific, mentioning cigarette smoke, fireflies, a stranger’s pool and a backwards ride in a Lexus. However, the song becomes more vulnerable as Wolf questions whether the person’s supposed independence is actually recklessness.

As the instrumental builds, Wolf’s vocals become more frustrated. She sings about fighting with exes, being defensive and missing an exit, turning what first feels like a fun late-night relationship into something more complicated. The final bridge is especially intense as Wolf confronts the confusion and anger that come with caring for someone who may not fully care back.

Speaking about the single, Wolf explained that “Twiggy” is about people she has been with who lacked “both butts and emotional availability.” She also suggested that the song may be about “the messiness of addiction.”

“Twiggy” was written after Wolf spent years touring and began writing from a more personal place during a retreat in Big Bear. The release maintains the colorful and unpredictable quality of Wolf’s previous work while revealing a more emotionally exposed side of her songwriting.

According to mxdwn, Wolf first debuted “Twiggy” during a surprise appearance at Hayley Williams’ Newport Folk Festival set on July 24. During the collaborative “Hayley Williams & Friends” performance, Williams joined Wolf for the unreleased track, giving the audience its first look at the single before its official release.
