The Broad is set to present Yoko Only, a one-night-only concert celebrating the music of Yoko Ono, on Saturday, August 8, a star-studded tribute featuring Yo La Tengo, Nels Cline, Sleater-Kinney, Sylvan Esso, Rufus Wainwright, Tune-Yards and many more, curated by Yuka Honda of Cibo Matto.
The concert is presented in conjunction with Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind, the visionary artist’s first solo museum exhibition in Southern California, on view at The Broad from May 23 through October 11, 2026, and organized in collaboration with Tate Modern, London. Staged on the museum’s East West Bank Plaza, the evening gathers a remarkable cast to interpret selections from Ono and the Plastic Ono Band, ranging from the avant-garde to Billboard hits.
Guest curator Yuka Honda has assembled a supergroup with Yo La Tengo and Nels Cline, joined by an eclectic roster of guest vocalists and musicians including Theo Bleckmann, Finom, Satomi Matsuzaki of Deerhoof, Patrick Shiroishi, Sleater-Kinney, Sylvan Esso, Tune-Yards and Rufus Wainwright, each matched to songs that reflect Ono’s themes. “Music was the first thing on Yoko’s artistic mind,” Honda said, describing the night as a chance to celebrate the flower garden Ono gave to generations of listeners.
Yoko Ono, the visionary artist, musician and activist whose work has shaped contemporary culture for more than seven decades, remains one of the most influential and boundary-dissolving figures in modern art. For Los Angeles audiences, Yoko Only offers a rare, deeply curated evening, pairing a landmark museum exhibition with a lineup of artists spanning indie rock, avant-garde and the experimental underground, all under one summer sky.
