Sound is Fundamental, the first short film of the newly launched docuseries, The Art of Sound, produced by L-Acoustics and Black Meteor. The film features Talking Heads visionary David Byrne, as he examines his own connection to sound and its powerful influence in our daily lives. The first installation of a three-part series explores sound itself, how it shapes shapes our emotions, decisions, well-being and overall impact. The Art of Sound brings this often-overlooked sense into focus, showing how understanding it can elevate our lives. Sound is not just heard—it’s felt, and its influence is transformative.
The 17-minute film also features researchers Robyn Landau and Dr. Erica Warp as they investigate the primal connection to sound and its fundamental role in human experience. Through innovative EEG research conducted at L-Acoustics London, the episode reveals how our brains and emotions respond to various soundscapes and their impact on our wellbeing.
Following the film’s screening a 25-minute Q&A with Producers Glaeser, Lancaster and Gray. The three shared a few anecdotes on how it was to work with the legendary David Byrne. The three stated that Byrne would bike to and from the filming location, had no writer, and only requested salted vinegar chips. The three were still in awe to be able to collaborate with the icon and expressed how easy it was to talk and work with him. He was the perfect person to include in this short film as he truly went into the fundamentals of sound.
