Indie pop band Hot Chip has surprised fans with the news of a limited run of 2025 shows. One stop is set to be at Los Angeles’ very own Fonda Theatre on Sept. 9.
Hot Chip have announced a new Greatest Hits album, titled Joy In Repetition, which will be out September 5 via Domino. The title comes from their 2005 breakout single “Over and Over” and does feature a monkey with a miniature cymbal on the cover. It features songs from all of their albums except their 2004 debut Coming On Strong.
“There’s joy in doing something again and again,” says the band’s Alexis Taylor. “That’s true of rhythms, of grooves and of making records together for 20 years. We’re still doing it. We still love doing it.”
In addition to “Ready for the Floor,” “Boy From School,” “One Life Stand,” “I Feel Better” and “Need You Now,” there’s also a new song, “Devotion,” that finds Hot Chip still masters of their craft. Taylor calls it “a celebration of the devotion to doing this project together,” adding. “I think of Joe [Goddard] as being like Brian Wilson, with this huge dedication to finding how to make the most amazing pop music.”
To celebrate the album, Hot Chip will be playing special shows in London on Sept. 5, NYC on Sept. 7 and Los Angeles on Sept. 9 where they will perform Joy in Repetition in its entirety.
