On May 23, 2025, the alternative band Saint Etienne released a new single called “Glad.” Their new song was co-written and co-produced by Tom Rowlands and features Jimi Goodwin. The song starts off with a fast tempo and lots of drums. Then, the vocals come, and unlike the speed from the instrumentals, the singing is a little slower. Once the song gets to the pre-chorus, the drums fade away and it is just the smooth instrumental and the vocals. Then, the drums come back for the chorus. According to an article by Brooklyn Vegan, the band has commented about how the song was created. “We asked Tom if he had any songs in progress that might suit Saint Etienne, and he sent a backing track that he’d been working on with Jez from Doves. We fell in love with it straight away, and the topline melody and words for ‘Glad’ came easy,” said Etienne.

The song also was released with a music video. In the video, there are some people in a smaller room with some furniture. Throughout the video, the people alternate, sometimes there are a couple people there and sometimes it is just one person. The people in the room dance in the video, which could be jumping around the room a little or breakdancing on the floor. The lights in the room start to flicker when the drums speed up.

Unfortunately, the band has decided to close the chapter on their music careers, after releasing music for 35 years. Before they end, they will be releasing their final album, International, which will be releasing on September 13 of this year.
