French electronic pioneers Air are set to bring their dreamy debut album Moon Safari to life in San Francisco with a one-night-only performance at The Masonic on Sunday, September 28. The show is part of the duo’s 25th anniversary tour, celebrating the album that defined a generation of downtempo and lounge-pop.
Released in 1998, Moon Safari became an instant classic with its lush synth textures, gentle grooves, and cinematic soundscapes. Tracks like “La Femme d’Argent,” “Sexy Boy,” and “All I Need” helped Air, composed of Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel, earn critical acclaim and cult status across continents. Now, for the first time, the band will perform the album in its entirety, offering fans a rare chance to revisit the record that launched their careers.
Known for their sophisticated stage design and immersive audio-visual production, Air’s live performances blur the line between concert and dream sequence. The Masonic’s clean acoustics and wide, open floor in the center make it a fitting backdrop for Air’s spacey, atmospheric sound. The venue’s architecture allows the music to stretch and swirl, drawing the audience into the album’s world like a softly spiraling orbit. Following the full Moon Safari set, the duo will also play select songs from their wider catalog.
