Due to popular demand, Behind The Gallery announced that following the highly anticipated debut at Morrison Hotel Gallery in New York City, Los Angeles will host Jonathan Rach: Nine Inch Nails, The Downward Spiral Exhibition. The Gallery hosted a private viewing on Wednesday, March 5 at its new LA location.
Jonathan Rach, award-winning documentary photographer and close collaborator of Nine Inch Nails, brings his iconic Self Destruct Tour photography to the U.S. for the first time. The New York exhibition ran from February 21-24, 2025, at the Morrison Hotel Gallery. The exhibition has moved to the Los Angeles showcase from March 6-9, 2025, at 7615 Sunset Blvd. Following acclaimed exhibitions in Australia (March 2024) and the UK (October 2024), this collection captures the raw intensity of Nine Inch Nails’ legendary 1994-96 global tour, celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Downward Spiral.
The private viewing welcomed friends and family for the launch of the LA showcase. Attendees mostly consisted of photographers, choreographers, designers, and artists. Previous Nine Inch Nails members Chris Vrenna, Danny Lohner, Charlie Clouser, Josh Freese, and Robin Finck also made an appearance alongside A Perfect Circle’s Billy Howerdel. There will be an album playback evening on Friday, March 7, and a Q&A on Saturday, March 8.
In 1994, Nine Inch Nails transitioned from underground disruptors to generational icons. Embedded in the Self Destruct Tour, Jonathan Rach captured this unfiltered energy, creating a collection that transcends photography to become an artifact of a groundbreaking moment in music history. Photographs illustrate both on-stage and backstage moments with the band, including various dressing room stills for an in-depth feel of how the band traveled.
The Los Angeles showcase expands the collection to include more than 50 images, including highlights from NIN’s six-night Hollywood Palladium run in 2018, as well as photographs of legendary artists David Bowie, Lou Reed, the Melvins, and more. As part of the events, Jonathan Rach will host an Artist Talk during the exhibition, offering deeper insights and behind-the-scenes stories about this celebrated collection.
Ranch first started collaborating with Nine Inch Nails on stage designs then followed up as a filmmaker writing and directing a documentary about the band entitled Closure. Jonathan’s documentary went on to sell triple platinum in video sales resulting in a critically acclaimed feature embraced globally.
Prints sized at 12″ x 18″ of the images are also for sale with a price of $375. Framed editions cost $535 with only 50 pieces available for each piece. Limited poster editions of select prints are also on sale for only $65. Those who attend may also sign up for a free print giveaway. The exhibition runs from March 6-9.
