The Amazons are kicking off 2025 with their explosive new single, “My Blood,” which sees them teaming up with Royal Blood. The song is the latest release from their upcoming album 21st Century Fiction, set to drop on May 9th. Premiered on BBC Radio 1, “My Blood” is a mix of hard-hitting rock and pure energy, produced by Mike Kerr from Royal Blood.
The track pulls you in from the start, with powerful guitar riffs and a strong pulsating rhythm. Lead singer Matt Thomson delivers a raw incredible performance about the unexplainable force that drives us to persevere even when it feels like nothing is enough. With lyrics like, “I can’t give it up cos it’s in my blood” the song asks why we push through the toughest moments, even when logic tells us to give up. It’s about that deep urge to keep going, no matter the pain or obstacles.
Teaming up with Royal Blood feels like a natural fit, with Thomson describing Mike Kerr as a mentor and someone he’s always respected. “My Blood” marks the beginning of a new sound for The Amazons that’s still packed with energy, but with a deeper, more reflective side.
The song sets the stage for 21st Century Fiction, an album that promises to take on tough topics like masculinity and unfulfilled potential, while still delivering the band’s signature riffs and aggression. It’s an exciting new chapter for The Amazons.
Royal Blood was meant to perform at the Pohoda festival in 2024, a large music festival in Northern Slovakia but due to a devastating storm, a collapse of one of the tent stages occured on the second day. This forced the festival to unfortunately cancel the third day of the show. There were 29 injuries with many of them thankfully being minor.
