Danny Elfman, composer for “Beetlejuice” and “Batman,” has been hit with a defamation lawsuit due to comments he made regarding allegations made against him by fellow composer Nomi Abadi. According to variety.com, these comments were published by Rolling Stone as part of an investigative piece surrounding Abadi’s claims, in which she accused Elfman of alleged sexual misconduct and alleged sexual harassment.
Rolling Stone’s story on the matter detailed that Elfman had allegedly entered into a settlement and nondisclosure agreement with Abadi after the initial allegations, which was not reported on previously. Abadi also sued Elfman for allegedly failing to pay the whole settlement amount, which was allegedly $830,000. (via variety.com)
Now, Abadi claims that Elfman allegedly “peddled appalling lies for publication to Rolling Stone about Nomi.” She also called Elfman and his team out for their alleged portrayal of her to the media, in which they made her out to be “a scorned woman seeking revenge and money to make Elfman “pay for having rejected her” and the idea that she “invited Elfman’s misconduct, including by requesting that he take nude pictures of her.” Abadi claims that these depictions of her have allegedly ruined her career ambitions, and have allegedly taken a negative toll on her mental health. Abadi is not the only woman to come forward with similar allegations against Elfman. A second woman, who’s identity has not been disclosed, claimed that Elfman had allegedly sexually abused her from 1997 to 2002.
