Childish Gambino is back with his first tour in five years! Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, announced the New World Tour via social media. The tour includes two nights in Los Angeles at the Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday, September 18 and Thursday, September 19.
The New World Tour is Gambino’s first tour since 2019, and follows the re-release of 3.15.20 as Atavista. The tour will visit North America, Europe and Australia. Special guests include Amaarae for the European and Australian run and Willow for the North American run. The North American leg of the tour kicks off on August 11 in Oklahoma City, OK and concludes on October 3 in Chicago, IL before heading to Europe late October. The 35-date North American run will include stops in cities such as Toronto, Atlanta, Seattle, Brooklyn, and Los Angeles.
Donald McKinley Glover Jr. is an American actor, comedian, writer, director, record producer, singer, songwriter, rapper and DJ. He performs under the musical stage name Childish Gambino and as a DJ under the name mcDJ. He first came to public attention for his work with Derrick Comedy while a student at New York University, and Tina Fey hired him at age 23 as a writer for the NBC sitcom 30 Rock. He later portrayed community college student Troy Barnes on the NBC sitcom Community. He created and starred in the FX series Atlanta. Glover has won various accolades, including Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, and Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy. After several self-released albums and mixtapes, Glover signed to Glassnote Records in 2011. He released his first album, Camp, in 2011. His second studio album, Because the Internet, was released in 2013. Glover’s third album, Awaken, My Love!, was released in 2016, spawning the single “Redbone”, which peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, and eventually earned him a Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance. In 2017, Glover was included on the annual Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world. In 2018, Glover released the song and video for “This Is America”, which debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 and nearly broke the internet.
