Weezer just announced a fall tour in which they will be performing the Blue Album in its entirety. Special guests The Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr will accompany the rock band on Friday, October 11 at the Intuit Dome.
The LA-based rock band is celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut self-titled studio album, best known as the Blue Album, with a North American Tour. The Voyage to the Blue Planet Tour kicks off on September 4 in St. Paul, MN and concludes on October 11 in Los Angeles, CA. The 22-date tour visits cities such as Toronto, Boston, Nashville, Seattle, and more. Ahead of the tour, Weezer will be performing a sold out show alongside Dogstar on Friday, March 15 at the Lodge Room where they will also perform the Blue Album in full. During the tour, not only will Weezer perform the Blue Album in its entirety but will also perform fan-favorite songs, rarities and more.
The Blue Album was released in 1994 through DGC Records. The album truly launched Weezer’s career reaching No. 16 on the US Billboard 200 and becoming certified triple platinum. The debut record holds fan-favorite singles “Undone – The Sweater Song,” “Buddy Holly” and “Say It Ain’t So.” The record remains Weezer’s best-selling album.
Weezer formed in 1992 and consists of Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, Brian Bell, and Scott Shriner. The band has won a Grammy for Best Music Video for “Pork and Beans” and have been nominated for Best Rock Song twice and Best Rock Album twice times. Weezer’s live performances are always filled with immense energy and surprises. The band is best known for surprising fans with last-minute shows, including last year’s secrete LA show at the Roxy Theatre.
