Indie pop band Future Islands have announced their world tour in support of their latest record, People Who Aren’t There Anymore. The tour includes a stop at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California on Wednesday, September 18.
Future Islands are heading out on tour in honor of their seventh studio album People Who Aren’t There Anymore, officially released on January 26. The world tour kicks off on May 12 in Madrid, Spain and officially concludes on September 28 in Dallas, Texas. The 44-date tour features dates all over the world including Spain, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, and the United States. The final leg of the tour centralizes on US shows with performances in cities such as Seattle, Portland, Chicago, Houston, and more.
Future Islands formed in 2006 and consists of Gerrit Welmers, William Cashion, Samuel T. Herring, and Michael Lowry. The synth-pop group rose to popularity with their fourth album Singles, released in 2014. Within the same year, the band made their television debut on The Late Show with David Letterman performing the album’s lead single “Seasons (Waiting on You).” The band has classified themselves as post-wave musicians for their influences of new wave and post-punk. Future Islands also grew to popularity for their energetic live performances and frontman Herring’s stage performances.
