After releasing her fourth solo studio album, Joy’All, Jenny Lewis will be stopping in Austin, TX, on March 1st while on the second leg of her Joy’All Ball tour. The new tour dates were announced by the folk-pop singer on December 12th after the success of her first run of shows along the west coast. This new leg of shows includes supporting acts, Hayden Pedigo and Logan Ledger, on select dates; with Pedigo joining Lewis while in Austin at Moody Theater.
According to Lewis in her conversation with Los Angeles Magazine, the Joy’All Ball Tour aims to ‘bring a little joy’ during the ‘heaviness of the times’ right now. This kind of cheerful disposition has followed Lewis throughout her career and in her music, and can even be seen in her more serious songs. However, with a music career dating back to 1998, it makes sense that a veteran-musician like herself has found and maintained the ability to lift herself and others up through her art.
Lewis got her start with the band Rilo Kiley whose original country sound transformed into a more indie-rock style throughout the band’s evolution. With the success of Rilo Kiley, Jenny Lewis branched off to create her own solo music in 2004, honing in on creating her own country-indie-rock fusion sonic style. With the release of her latest album, Joy’All, Lewis has continued to showcase her genre-bending abilities while also leaning into other genres like pop, folk, funk, and more. This kind of artist evolution has made it clear that her long-time experience as a singer-songwriter has only transformed her artistry for the better.
