One of the most prolific artists of this generation, Kesha, is back on tour and will be in New York, NY for two nights at the Hammerstein Ballroom!
Kesha Rose Sebert, known solely as Kesha (formally Ke$ha) is an American singer and songwriter. She first hit fame when she was featured on Flo Rida’s hit single, “Right Round.” She has earned two number-one albums on the US Billboard 200 with Animal (2010) and Rainbow (2017), and the top-ten records Warrior (2012) and High Road (2020).
Kesha’s first two albums were fully written or co-written by herself, and she considers herself first and foremost a songwriter. She has been known to write for other notable artists including Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus. When it came to creating her first album, Kesha settled on the synth-pop style that was becoming quite popular at the time along with developing a catchy hook. Her vocals on the album Animal are heavily autotuned, as were many songs at this time, often to produce rapid stuttering or over-pitch corrected vocal effects.
Her second album, Warrior, used much less autotune and it was critically praised for its rock music influences, despite still being based in technopop. Kesha’s third album, Rainbow displayed a significant departure from the electro-pop sound from her previous two albums. It was still classified as a pop album, but it contained elements of glam rock, country pop, and pop rock.
Kesha’s newest album, Gag Order, was released in May 2023. The album focused on overcoming trauma and depression from the lawsuit with her former producer, Dr. Luke. She is going on her “Only Love Tour,” following the settlement of her lawsuit. Tickets are on sale now on her website at https://www.keshaofficial.com/tour/.
