Brittany Howard is an American musician, singer, and songwriter known for being the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and main songwriter of rock bands Alabama Shakes, Thunderbitch, and Bermuda Triangle.

Howard has a very soulful way of singing and has often been compared to the vocal stylings of Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, and Aretha Franklin. She says alongside these artists, she finds inspiration from Bon Scott, lead vocalist and lyricist of the hard rock band AC/DC. 

Brittany Howard is most known for her work with Alabama Shakes, which was formed in 2009 originally under the name “The Shakes.” They have been awarded nine Grammy nominations and one win for Best Rock Song, “Stay High.” Alabama Shakes announced they would be going on hiatus in 2018, following this Howard released her debut solo album, Jamie, in 2019. 

Thunderbitch formed in Nashville in 2012 with members of Clear Plastic Masks and ATO Records labelmates Fly Golden Eagle. Bermuda Triangle was formed with Jesse Lafser and Becca Mancari, also in Nashville, in 2017- the band was originally only going to play for a one-time performance, but the trio went on to perform a five-show tour. 

Howard announced her first solo tour across North America and Europe to promote her debut album. Jamie was received with massive critical acclaim, including Pitchfork who is quoted in their review stating: “The exceptional solo debut from the Alabama Shakes singer-songwriter is a thrilling opus that pushes the boundaries of voice, sound, and soul to new extremes.”
