Indie-folk artist Bahamas will be hitting the Brooklyn Bowl for a show on October 20! Bahamas is the moniker for singer/songwriter Afie Jurvanen. Contrary to his name, Jurvanen is actually Finnish-Canadian, originally hailing from Ontario. He has been creating music under this stage name since 2009, and his songs very much fit this smooth, breezy vibe. Bahamas is most known for making music about love affairs with simple melodic arrangements.
Bahamas is a self-taught guitarist who has worked alongside very prolific alternative artists such as The Lumineers and Jack Johnson. His debut album was recorded in a cabin in Ontario. Pink Strat went on to be nominated for the Juno Award for Roots & Traditional Solo Album of the Year.
Bahamas has achieved success in the Americas and overseas through their live touring. Streaming numbers have been growing consistently, with their biggest track “Lost In The Light,” reaching almost 100 million plays.
Jurvanen released his fifth studio album, Sad Hunk, in October 2020. The album won Adult Alternative Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2021. His latest studio album Bootcut, was just released on September 15 of this year.
