Trust Records Hosts ‘We Are Fugazi From Washington DC’ Screening At LA’s Brain Dead Studios

Trust Records presented two screening of We Are Fugazi From Washington, DC at Los Angeles’ Brain Dead Studios’ Movie Theater on Thursday, September 14. All proceeds go to the non-profit Watts Community Core which provides food and education to the community of Watts and surrounding areas.

Record label Trust Records hosted two special screenings of a Fugazi film at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. at Brain Dead studios where fans gathered to relive some of the greatest performances by Fugazi. The film is crowd sourced and consists almost entirely of fan recorded live shows and rare archive footage, all curated by author Joe Gross and filmmakers Joseph Pattisall and Jeff Krulik. The film features raw concert footage and interview footage with Fugazi’s vocalist Ian MacKaye. The film also explores the band’s impact through there music and philanthropic world raising $250,000 for various charities.

Fugazi is best recognized as the punk rock band from Washington, DC with a strong DIY ethical stance. The band formed in 1986 consisting of guitarist and vocalist MacKaye, Guy Picciotto, bassist Joe Lally, and drummer Brendan Canty. The band grew popular in the hardcore community not only for their insanely energized live sets but also due to their all ages acceptance and low entrance fees. Fugazi has influenced a wide number of artists including Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Elliott Smith, and more. With six full-length albums under their belt, the band has been in an indefinite hiatus since 2003.

In a true Fugazi spirit, Trust Records donated all proceeds to the local non-profit Watts Community Core. The community organization was recently opened due to the growing need for safe activities for the your in Nickerson Gardens.
