Kim Petras at the Moody Amphitheater on September 27th

A relatively new talent within the music scene will be embarking on a brand new tour and Austin is one of the stops! Kim Petras will be going on her Feed The Beast World Tour in honor of her brand new album that came out only 5 days ago, Feed The Beast. Petras will be playing at the Moody Amphitheater on September 27th, 2023.

Kim Petras is a German singer/songwriter who is currently based in Los Angeles. She is a pop singer who specializes in EDM, dance music, electronic pop and synth-pop. She gets her musical inspiration from the early 2000s pop and punk scene, which took over the music industry at the time. During the start of her career, she released music on her own independent record, BunHead Records. Here is where she released her first two albums, Clarity and Turn Off the Lights, on June 28th, 2019 and on October 1st, 2019. She released her third album/EP, Slut Pop, which was released almost 3 years later on February 11th, 2022.

Kim Petras reached mainstream fame after her collaboration with singer Sam Smith on his song, “Unholy.” The album reached #1 in numerous countries and became Petras’ first song to reach the US Billboard Hot 100 list. This was an amazing accomplishment and made Petras the first openly transgender woman to have a number one song on this chart! The history making didn’t stop there. The song won Petras and Smith a Grammy Award for the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Petras became the first transgender artist to win a Grammy in a major category and made Smith the first non-binary artist to do the same.

Staying on top of this momentum, Petras started working on new music right away. Only a year after Slut Pop, Petras told the world that she had begun working on a new album. She announced Feed the Beast on social media on May 15th of this year. Now, attendees of this new tour will be the first people to hear Petras’ brand new album live!
