Last night, according to Revolver, there was a brilliant story of a singer turned hero from the band Trivium, Matt Heafy rescued a fan from injury while performing. The fan was crowd surfing when all of a sudden the situation got out of hand and he was approaching the barricade at a high speed with no way to get down or help himself. Cue the heroic lead singer. Heafy then throws his guitar aside and jumps down off the stage to save the fan. Add in the large crowd and flashing purple lights that can be seen in the video and the whole thing is pretty surreal.
The band then called for security and politely but sternly asked them to up their presence so that Heafy did not have to perform any more heroic stunts and put himself in harm’s way. To end his successful rescue, Heafy loudly declared “See we love you all, we f**king love you all, that’s why we do it.” After the situation was diffused and no injury happened, Heafy used the moment to reassure the fans that they have their backs and laughed at himself. What could have been a terrible night turned into an unlikely memorable one. Trivium also performed earlier this year, but luckily there was nothing as dangerous and much less theatrics and suspense involved.
