Phoenix & Beck performing at the Moody Center on August 22nd

Two iconic voices within the music industry have teamed up and decided to put on an iconic tour that fans do not want to miss! Multi-talented artist, Beck and award-winning band, Phoenix, will be hitting the Moody Center stage on August 22nd! The tour is called “Beck & Phoenix: Summer Odyssey” and will include special opening acts, Weyes Blood and Sir Chloe. It’s definitely a need-to-see show!

Beck, formal name Beck David Hansen, rose to fame in the early 1990s and has explored multiple genres within the music industry. He is known for his experimentation with music and his lo-fi consistent style. His career began in the folk genre, but also switched between the blues and country whenever he felt it was needed. He worked hard throughout his upbringing to play his music for the world and his success came when he least expected it. His first song to receive radio play was the single, “Loser,” that was released in 1993. He released 3 albums in 1994, but his 4th album was a smash success in the U.S.

Odelay was released on June 18th, 1996 and was met with critical acclaim and built Becks fanbase significantly. The album blends multiple styles, such as rap, jazz, rock, country and blues in a synchronized way. The album went double platinum and won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Performance. Since then, his 5th album, Mutations, 6th album, Midnite Vultures, 7th album, Sea Changes and 8th album, Guero all have gone certified Gold. Although he has experimented in an ample amount of genres, fans would describe his music style as alternative and a broad range of indie. Beck has been nominated for a whopping 22 Grammys and has won 8 in categories ranging from Best Male Rock Vocal Performance all the way to Album of the Year for his album Morning Phase.

Phoenix is a French pop rock band that was formed in 1995. They have since then made headway in the indie pop and pop rock scene. Their band lineup has pretty much stayed the same since their formation. Their brilliant sound can be accredited to long-standing members Thomas Mars on lead vocals, Deck d’Arcy on bass, backing vocals and keyboards, Christian Mazzalai on guitar and backing vocals, Laurent Brancowitz on guitar, keyboards and backing vocals and Thomas Hedlund, who has been a part of the band since 2005 on the drums. The band was formed by Mars and Mazzalai when they decided to start playing music together. Since their formation, the band has curated 7 successful albums! They have explored many genres alongside indie pop and pop rock, including synth-pop and new wave music. The band has won a Grammy Award in 2010 for Best Alternative Music Album for their album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.

With a combined discography of 21 albums, this concert is bound to be filled with many genres, sounds, audio and visuals. It will be a treat to hear Phoenix hit songs “1901,” “Lisztomania” and “If I Ever Feel Better” live and in person. Beck is known for stunning visuals during his sets and it will be a great opportunity to hear his hit songs “Loser” and “Up All Night” live!
