Mariachi El Bronx announced several Cinco de Mayo in SoCal. The band is set to perform four shows including one at Los Angeles’ The Roxy Theatre on Saturday, May 6.
LA-based punk band The Bronx announced their first set of shows for 2023. The band is back with their annual Cinco de Mayo festivity shows. The band embarks on their SoCal tour in Ventura on May 4 before heading to Solana Beach on May 5, then heading to Los Angeles on May 6, and finally concluding in Pioneertown on May 7. The Bronx are also set to support Flogging Molly this summer for a tour across the United States.
The Bronx formed in 2002 releasing six studio albums and three additional albums under the moniker Mariachi El Bronx. The punk rock band released their first mariachi album in 2009 as their fourth studio album and first record under the new name. It marked a shift in the band’s career from hardcore punk to mariachi. The band adopted the alter ego Mariachi El Bronx after a successful promotional stunt. The Mariachi El Bronx album was composed with the help of Vincent Hidalgo and produced by Jon Avilla. Mariachi El Bronx touches on many facets of mariachi music, from jorocho to bolero to even corridos and more. The band often performs their punk sets followed by their mariachi personas or vice versa during their shows. The Bronx/Mariachi El Bronx is Matt Caughthran, Joby J. Ford, Joey Castillo, Brad Magers, Vincent Hidalgo, and Ken Horne.
