Violent Femmes Celebrating 40 Years of Debut Album in LA

Violent Femmes are heading on tour in celebration of the 40th anniversary of their debut album performing the record from cover to cover with special guest Jesse Ahern. The tour includes a stop at Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre on Sunday, May 7.

In honor of their self-titled debut album Violent Femmes will be performing 12 shows across the United States. Accompanied by folk artist Jesse Ahern, the folk punk band will perform their 1983 record from cover to cover in cities such as Ventura, Dallas, Denver, and more. Following their announcement via social media, all SoCal shows sold out instantly. Fans have been pleading for more SoCal shows, especially another LA date, but no word yet about additional tour dates. However, the band will be performing another celebratory show at the Santa Fe Springs Swap Meet with Plastic Culture, Spray Allen and Eric Wilson of Sublime.

Violent Femmes formed in 1979 in Wisconsin and have been on-and-off a few times. The band currently consists of founding members Gordon Gano and Brian Ritchie, joined by Blaise Garza and John Sparrow. Violent Femmes gained recognition through their critically acclaimed 1983 debut album which features hit songs “Blister in the Sun” and “Add It Up.” The group has 10 albums under their belt with the latest being their 2019 record Hotel Last Resort.
