According to stereogum.com  last night St. Vincent took the stage on The Tonight Show and performed  the cover of “Glory Box” by English electronic band Portishead. The performance happened before St. Vincent‘s appearance at Love Rocks NYC’s God’s Love We Deliver livestream.

During the performance the singer was joined by house band The Roots for an emotional rendition of the 1995 hit  song. “Give me reason to be a woman  before playing a Jimmy Hendrix style guitar solo. Also The Roots performed a  slow and contemplative musical  groove which consisted of  actual string playing.

In 2021 St. Vincent starred in and wrote mockumentary with Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein called The Nowhere Inn. It was directed by Brownstein and centered on St. Vincent  where it followed the filmmaker and the artist’s working relationship as it unraveled over the course of the shoot.

Although the film portrayed Brownstein as the filmmaker, the movie was directed by Bill Benz (Portlandia, At Home With Amy Sedaris).
