Paramore Let Down Their Guard on New Single “C’est Comme Ca”

Paramore performs at When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas, NV on 23 October, 2022.

The anticipation for new music from Paramore has never been higher. Following five-year break since their last studio record, they will release their sixth full-length body of work next month. Leading up to the February 10 release of This Is Why, the trio has released their third single, “C’est Comme Ca.” Listen to it below:

A brisk and quirky spoken-word anthem built on femme-punk energy, the above song exemplifies what Paramore is prized for even though it doesn’t sound like anything they’ve ever put out before. The lyrics, however, are a reminder of their true essence: I know that regression is rarely rewarded / I still need a certain degree of disorder/ I hate to admit getting better is boring/ But the high cost of chaos?/ Who can afford it?

The song title is French for “it’s like that,” but more akin to the English phrase, “that’s just how it is.”

Singer Hayley Williams said the following about the new release: “I’m trying to get un-addicted to a survival narrative. The idea of imminent doom is less catastrophic to me than not knowing anything about the future or my part in it. The guys and I are all in much more stable places in our lives than ever before. And somehow that is harder for me to adjust to.”
