Today DJ, composer and visual storyteller Kid Koala released the song “Once Upon Time in the Northeast.” The song is the second single from Koala‘s the upcoming album Creatures of the Late Afternoon which comes out on April 14 by Envision Records.

“Once Upon a Time in the Northeast” is an experimental electronic hip-hop tune which shows how much Koala has grown as a DJ. Right off the bat, the sense of Koala‘s deep imagination can be felt through the musical beats and what is enjoyable about this ditty is how Koala found a way to incorporate a westerly theme within the music because the noise can make some people feel like they are a part of an imaginary world that is filled with deep western vibes.

In the press release Koala describes “Once Upon a Time in the Northeast” in his own words.

“Among several rows of vials filled with water samples, one of the creatures connects clues about the cause of strange goings-on in the city… eventually uncovering a nefarious plot originating from a monolithic technological structure that, although modern and iridescent, is not as innocuous as it seems. As the creatures traverse multiple terrains toward their destination, their journey is underscored by this Spaghetti Western Style music cue.”

Surely Koala has more projects to share this year.
