Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin are bringing “The Hanukkah Sessions” to life with a live performance at Los Angeles’ Largo at the Coronet on Monday, Dec. 5. The event has been kept a secret for the most part. The live performance will benefit ADL, an anti-hate organization confronting antisemitism, extremism and biases.
The Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and producer Greg Kurstin are conducting a “Hanukkah Sessions” benefit concert on Monday, Dec. 5 at LA’s Largo at the Coronet. The benefit show will be hosted by filmmaker Judd Apatow and is said to include special guests. All proceeds from the event will go directly to ADL to help fight antisemitism and secure justice and fair treatment for all. The event was not widely publicized as it was only announced to those on the Largo’s email list.
Grohl and Kurstin launched “The Hanukkah Sessions” in 2020, covering Jewish artists for each night of the holiday. For the past two years, the duo has covered artists such as The Ramones, Beastie Boys, KISS, Lisa Loeb, and others. Though Grohl is not Jewish, he accredited Kurstin for helping him appreciate the holiday and create a significant and important project.
The “Hanukkah Sessions” live concert adds to Grohl’s few live performances since the passing of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins earlier this year. Grohl has made few low-key appearances after the two Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts in London and Los Angeles. The Foo Fighters frontman has made special appearances at Paul McCartney’s Glastonbury set and Joe Walsh’s VetsAid concert.
