Serj Tankian is set to return to the The Soroya on April 29, 2023. The vocalist will premiere his forthcoming performance “Invocations,” alongside the California State University Northridge Symphony Orchestra.
“Invocations” is a musical piece composed by Tankian. Tankian explained in his announcement that the piece is inspired by the orchestral ensemble and choir and was writer over a long period of time. The System Of A Down vocalist will debut the live performance world wide as he performs on stage with the CSUN Symphony Orchestra while streaming worldwide.
Tankian has also selected a team of vocalists to join him on stage for the debut of “Invocations.” The team consists of: Brian Thorsett, Azam Ali, Francesca Genco and Charles Elliot. The CSUN Alumnus, stated in his announcement that he waited a long period of time specifically for the CSUN Symphony Orchestra and choir as he finds them to be the best performers for this musical piece.
Tankian is best known for his experimental music, always creating out-of-the-world projects. The non-conformist artist recently debuted his art exhibition “Shapeshift: A Dynamic Dive Into Diversity” at Stephanie’s Art Gallery in which guest can listen to musical pieces matched to each canvas art through the Arloopa application. The exhibition is set to run until Nov. 1.
