Come out and jam to some awesome music with The Big Thief at Miami Beach Bandshell on February 21st.
The folk-indie rock of New York based Big Thief is molded by the songwriting of singer/guitarist Adrianne Lenker. She started releasing her own material as a teen in the mid-2000s before finding a good friend and eventual bandmate Buck Meek on a couple of duo EPs in 2014.
From Minneapolis , Lenker was introduced to playing the guitar from her father at a young age and began writing songs at ten years old. At 12, she dedicated herself to music, encouraged by her father, throughout her teens. She released her first solo music as a teenager in 2006. Defeated by recording sessions time and time again in Nashville, broke, and with no high school diploma, she applied for a summer program at the Berklee College of Music in Boston with help from her father. Thankfully through this experience, she was awarded a full-time scholarship. Lenker graduated with a college degree in 2012 and moved to Brooklyn, New York. Soon after arriving in New York, Lenker ran into fellow Berklee alum Meek. They released two EPs as a duo in 2014 before forming Big Thief with bass player Max Oleartchik and drummer James Krivchenia.
