Come join Hippo Campus as they perform live at Miami Beach Bandshell Oct. 25th.
As an indie rock band, Hippo Campus gifts listeners with a “melodic guitar-driven pop” that shares a likeness between Afro-pop/garage rock genre, Vampire Weekend and the post-punk Bombay Bicycle Club. The band formed in 2013, with leader Jake Luppen, bassist Zach Sutton, guitarist Nathan Stocker and drummer Whistler Allen. The mates crossed paths in high school at St. Paul. Hippo Campus joined the local scene, flaunting their intense-energy sets, gaining the recognition of the management team who manages well-known Minnesotan groups Trampled by Turtles and Low.
In March of 2017, Hippo Campus released their debut album, Landmark, reaching number 15 on Billboard’s Top Alternative Albums chart. Their second album, Bambi, followed the year after and transferred a more electronic sound to the album, adding variety to their image. The album came in two-parts, Demos, released in 2019 compiling previously unreleased tracks recorded over the summer of 2017 and the winter of 2018. Now owning and utilizing their own studio in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the band sent out the EP Good Dog, Bad Dream in 2021. In 2022, their third album LP3, was released.
