Do you love rock music? Then pull up to the Miami Beach Bandshell to see The Wrecks perform on November 4th!
The Wrecks, are an indie/rock band formed in Thousand Oaks, CA. Members include Aaron Kelley (bass), Nick Schmidt (guitar/vocals), Westen Weiss (guitar) and Billy Nally (drums). The band admires and takes inspiration from large contributors to the newer age rock scene such as The Pixies, The Strokes, Weezer, and Vampire Weekend.
On an impulse, The Wrecks taped their upcoming debut EP accompanied by a friend as well as engineer Andrew D’Angelo. Fortunately for them, a friend revealed that they scored the group some studio time for a few days, to their amazement. The band had zero dollars to contribute as they had only been together for a week, but nonetheless, chugged on with a fire to record the best songs they possibly could within a short three days. After working hour after hour into the night, plus any other times they could squeeze out a session, three days were up and the EP was finished. Funnily enough, the band had no clue that they were not allowed to be in the studio recording. With the weight of guilt and probably a little fear, they cleared any evidence of ever being in the studio, downloaded their music on a hard drive and got out of there. In 2016, The Wrecks released their first EP We Are the Wrecks, featuring the single “Favorite Liar.” The song went viral and opened doors for The Wrecks including landing some major gigs opening for Paramore and The Struts along with festival openings at Lollapalooza and BottleRock. Their second EP, Panic Vertigo, debuted in 2018. In 2020, during the height of the pandemic, The Wrecks’ first LP, Infinitely Ordinary, was released by the Big Noise.
