Musician Jamie XX made waves today by releasing his new single “Kill Dem” from the album Young. The single made its premiere on BBC Radio 1’s Clara Amfo’s Hottest Record in The World and was created with Jamie’s experiences at Notting Hill Carnival. The song was inspired by the energy of the parties and sound systems he experienced since first attending the carnival as a teenager. This past August, Jamie was honored to DJ at Carnival for the first time, joining Shy FX’s iconic Digital Soundboy stage to play “KILL DEM” in the place that inspired it.
The music on “Kill Dem” is well played because Jamie creates solid techno and edm beats that bring a creative side to the beats and the most enjoyable part is hearing how Jamie isn’t afraid to experiment with different sounds while performing because each sound contributes to the electric vibe that constantly lingers in the atmosphere.
Jamie is scheduled to perform his largest ever headline shows this fall which includes this Friday, September 23 at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium alongside the curated line up of Four Tet, Floating Points, Avalon Emerson and Omar S. Then on September 30, he’ll headline Los Angeles’ historic Hollywood Bowl on with Caribou and Arushi Jain.
