Iron Maiden is an English heavy metal band from Leyton, East London. The band was formed in 1975 by Steve Harris. But like everything good in life, projects require a tremendous amount of work and energy and Iron Maiden was perseverant about this. In the beginning, Harris had to take a loan from his aunt to create the band. The band started doing their own T-shirts, a couple of hundred at a time.
The band traveled all over the country to get gigs, Aberdeen and Blackpool over a weekend while they had jobs, so they would travel during the weekends and go back to work on Monday. The group was young but determined to grow and differentiate. They were specifically focused on creating their original sound and differentiating from their punk contemporaries. The band has released 47 singles and 20 video albums. Two electronic games have been released with Iron Maiden soundtracks, and the band’s music is featured in a number of other video games.
Iron Maiden did not have success right away, after four years of constant work and pushing music while having regular jobs they got their first deal in 1979. They signed a three-album deal with EMI, which was a game-changer for the band. They benefitted from the support they received from a new manager, Rod Smallwood, who joined them.
