The Black Lips will be headlining at the Lodge Room in Los Angeles on Thursday, October 27th. The indie rock band is currently on a short world tour with 37 shows in infamous venues across the world.
This will be the Black Lips first performance in Los Angeles since 2019 when they joined The Kills, Social Distortion, Joan Jett and others at the FivePoint Amphitheatre. The rock band is known for various scandals and intense live performances. In 2021, the Italian label Wild Honey Records pulled the band’s 7” single amidst allegations against member of the band. Since then, the band has not released any new music.
The garage rock band formed in Atlanta, Georgia in 1999 and released their first full-length album, Black Lips!, in 2003. The band ultimately gained fame during the late 2000s as they were featured in The Rolling Stone, The New York Times and other major publications.
In early 2020, the band released their ninth studio album, Sing In A World That’s Falling Apart, receiving favorable reviews. The Black Lips are beloved for their intriguing energy and music, but they are most known for their wild and sometimes R-rated stage acts that have resulted in a long list of venue bans. They are noted for their provocative theatrics which include, nudity, fires, penile guitar playing, vomiting (often due to a medical condition from guitarist and vocalist Cole Alexander), and other unpredictable acts.
