of Montreal Shares Psychedelic Animated Video for New Single “Blab Sabbath Lathe of Maiden”

The new video for of Montreal’s single “Blab Sabbath Lathe of Maiden” has dropped. The video features some truly trippy visuals, like a kaleidoscopic, flower-eyed ape, a rainbow-clad skeleton with a pelvis made of giraffes and a three eyed, nearly-naked creature of unknown description.

“Blab Sabbath Lathe of Maiden” is part of of Montreal’s latest album, Freewave Lucifer f<ck f^ck f>ck, which releases on July 29 via Polyvinyl Records. True to the album’s name, the animated music video features plenty of demonic imagery. Also included are some truly interesting ocular motifs, and some visuals which can only be described as ‘Steve-Harveyian’.

Lyrically, the song is also quite unique, with a sort of “stream of consciousness” style that befits the animation style of the video. To give a quick example, Kevin Barnes closes out the song by singing, “Deride a ride-swan gang a bong lovers like us opt into the game or remain hostile evidence that overly psychic songs are easy/Drown the eyes of that which pissed our ocean’s entire hexagram clarity leopard-sense kinked for antherozoidic balletic rude boys’ insemination”.

of Montreal previously released “Marijuana’s a Working Woman” from the album, alongside a similar animated music video. Fans of the group will definitely want to check out this new single.
