Nicki Minaj’s Husband Kenneth Petty Sentenced To Home Detention For Failing To Register As Sex Offender

Rapper and singer-songwriter Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty was placed on three years probation and one year home detention for failing to register as a sex offender in California. Back in September 2021, Petty pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender after which he was ordered to pay a fine of $55,000.

According to Consequence, Petty was previously arrested twice for failing to register as sex offender, once in November 2019 after a traffic stop and again in March 2020. He eventually posted a $100,000 bond and walked free. According to CBS, Petty previously served four and a half years in prison after being convicted of attempting to sexually assault a 16-year-old girl at knifepoint back in 1995. As a condition of his conviction, he was required to register as a sex offender.

In August 2021, Minaj and Petty were sued by his attempted rape victim, Jennifer Hough, for alleged harassment and intimidation. Hough claimed that they allegedly offered her money, allegedly sent people to her home, and tried to reach out to her directly. She eventually moved out of her home to avoid their alleged actions. The lawsuit claimed that Minaj and Petty had allegedly “directly and indirectly harassed her and threatened her to not speak about the incident.” In January 2022, Minaj’s name was dropped from the lawsuit.

Minaj has had quite a troubling couple of years with her brother being sentenced to 25 years in prison following his child rape conviction. Back in January 2021, Minaj was set to pay Tracy Chapman $450,000 over a copyright dispute.
