Flamin’ Groovies at The Roxy on July 15th

Flamin’ Groovies are back! The legendary rock band is celebrating nearly six decades of an extraordinary career. The Flamin’ Groovies are currently performing several shows across the world, one of which is set to be at The Roxy on July 15th.

The rock band originates from San Francisco, California. It was originally formed in 1965 under the name of Chosen Few by Roy Loney, Cyril Jordan, George Alexander, Tim Lynch, and Danny Mihm. After releasing three albums, lead singer Roy Loney left the band and was replaced by Chris Wilson, ultimately shifting the bands focus to power pop. Followed by various record deals the band released some of their smashing hits such as “Shake Some Action,” Flamin’ Groovies Now” and “Jumpin’ In The Night.”

In 1991, the band ultimately disbanded, but reformed in 2013 after immense support from fanatics after a series of reunion shows. In 2017, the Flamin’ Groovies released their first post-reunion album titled Fantastic Plastic. Despite its long and shaky history, the band is considered to be one of the pioneers of punk rock. In 2019, the Flamin’ Groovies consisted of Cyril Jordan, Von Sneidern, Tony Sales, and Atom Ellis. The band toured across the U.S. for their Teenage Head Tour with special guest vocalist Roy Loney. Sadly, Loney passed away later that year.

This year, the Flamin’ Groovies return celebrating a career of 57 years with a tour. Don’t miss the legendary San Francisco rock band, Flamin’ Groovies at The Roxy on Friday, July 15th. Tickets are available on AXS.com.
