Experimental, industrial artist Jarboe has returned with a thrilling announcement: the iconic 1995 album Sacrificial Cake will be receiving a limited edition reissue! The reissue will be available in lavender vinyl as tribute to fan-favorite track “Lavender Girl” and will be released later this year on November 18 via The Circle Music.
Jarboe commented on the album’s design stating: “The song ‘Lavender Girl’ on this album, is the song fans tell me is one of their favorite songs, ever. As this album was never available on its own, I am thrilled for The Circle Music to have it be available and especially on lavender vinyl in homage to the beloved song.”
The album was originally produced while Jarboe was working alongside Michael Gira in Swans. It was recorded in multi-instrumentalist Lary Seven’s East Village home studio in New York. The reissue contains all sixteen tracks remastered, highlighting the refreshingly dynamic nature of Jarboe’s musical talent. “My Buried Child” is also sure to be a treat for Swans fans in particular as Gira is featured as a special guest, providing acoustics. The artist has remained active throughout the pandemic, reissuing Skin Blood Women Roses on April 23 of this year. To celebrate the occasion, Jarboe dropped the music video for “Red Roses” in early April. Back in 2020, Jarboe also released her critically acclaimed album Illusory. Prior to the record’s release, the musician debuted her new single “Man Of Hate”.
Jarboe has contributed several influential albums in the rock, blues, alternative, indie and folk genres including 1991’s Thirteen Masks, 1998’s Anhedoniac, 2000’s Disburden Disciple, 2005’s The Conduit, 2008’s Mahakali, 2009’s Alchemic and many more.
